How does hogdex come up with the ratings?

Its subjective.

Rain isn't so bad but if its cold (like below 10) then its very unpleasant. Should we mention Vancouver here?

Sleet and freezing rain are not so nice.

We don't mind snow so it doesn't bring down the rating.

Temperatures just below zero aren't that bad but below -5 (especially with winds) are getting cold – in our opinion.

If there is no horrible precipitation, a temp of 0-10 will bump up the rating. A temp of 11-30 increases it even more. After 30 its getting too hot and the rating goes down. Of course very cold temps don't help the rating.

We don't like smog.
